Excuse me if this is already out there somewhere. But here in Queensland, What engine's can and can't be engineered for Datsun 1200's.
I've heard SR20DET's can no longer be engineered in QLD? If that's the case what about 13BT?
Anyone have the concrete facts?

Definatly not on the 13BT as a 13B to the dept or transport is 2.6L, so thats a 2.6L turbo in a small car, I tried many different engineers for this conversion but never could find one, you can get away with restamping a 13B as a 12A but you can't turbo a 12A in a 1200, too big

i read somewhere that is legal to put either a NA 1.8L or turbo1.6L, these would be the best bet anyway, keep asking around you'll find one soon,
good luck

Sounds like the 13bt idea is out, try looking up ca18 swaps, many people on this site have done it, and i havent heard no complaints, there is a guy that does the ca conversions as well and a pro job he does.

IF you were in Victoria, I'd say go with the 13bt as it is legally engineerable.

forced induction is 2.5 x weight of car in kg's = cc
Naturally Aspirated is 3 x weight of car kg's =cc
1200 coupe is 729kg x 2.5 = 1822cc.
yes guys running SRT's or FJT's are illegal in qld.

You definatly cant register a 13b in nsw its considered as a 2.6l.only thing a 13b or 13bt etc. is good for in nsw is a drag car.

I read that a standard 13b can do 222kph in a rx7 and they weigh 1400kg and a datto weighs 750kg imagine the power.

Would be nice to have that kind of power in a 1200 on the streets coz every ricer would be jealous lol!
