Ive bought an engine like the one above and cant get a shipping company to give me a normal quote. Does anyone know a reputable agent or company that will deliver from Tampa, Florida "port to port" via seafreight to Melbourne? Its already packaged up on a crate and boxed up to less than a cubic metre.

Its for my datsun 1000 and they can make 270hp in race trim. All in a 100kg package.
Its the first all alloy cosworth and although they where heavily detuned for the road and low quality fuel most yanks are making 240hp with new billet liners, custom high comp pistons, twin 45s and a cossie race cam. In 1993 in midget speedway a 2.5 litre was raced for that year before 16v where outlawed and came on top that year. I got it quite cheaply and would really like it here in Aus as there are none here and only 1500 where made. They have forged crank, rods and pistons unlike other cosworths of that era like the BDA etc It also comes with a factory stainless steel exhaust header and the bellhousing bolts up to B&W t5 boxes.
Can anyone recommend a shipping company or agent?

Some other pics of the combustion chamber and SS factory exhaust header. Very similar engine to the Nissan masterpiece Feral has but in all alloy, a 10th of the price and wet sleeve design. They were renown for failures thanks to their silicon strengthened sleeves instead of steel but once steel ones are machine and pressed in all problems where solved and these engines make the cheapest lightweight high hp cosworths in history.

The last pic is the 2.5 speedway engine with reinforcement plates as it sat at 90 degrees on the midget car and revved constantly at 10,000rpm. Rumors of this engine was that it made over 300hp and it beat the 3.4/5 litre slant fours of that day.
The inlet valves are huge thanks to the factory 88mm bores.

Why can't you get a quote for shipping? I once heard that nothing can be flown overseas out of middle US cities, it has to be trucked across land to the nearest port to its destination. Maybe you could get it trucked to the west coast and then sailed from there???

This information is 15 years old but might be useful.

if you got it cheap, just pay DHL or Startrack etc to do it... they advertise that they will send it anywhere or similar... just depends if you want it done cheaply.
Can the seller help out D?

Well its getting delivered to Tampa and then the ship goes through the panama canal to Australia so it costs about 100 us more.
However the local agents here are a waste of time. Ive waited 5 weeks already for quotes and they keep telling me they are waiting for the guy at the other end in Tampa (a port city)
I tried an electroic quote online but its only a guesstimate so waiting for the real thing.
I keep calling everyday and these companies alway say the same thing "we are waiting for the agent on the other end".
Its supposed to be 320 us via sea freight and 800us via air. However I dont want to pay any hidden crap and amount to 800 in the end for shipping when it that case I might as well get it flown in.

Maybe I should have stuck with my rotor conversion.

The guy at the other end is delivering it as soon as I get the quote and make the booking but hes broken his leg recently and I dont want to bug him anymore as hes kind enough to load it on his truck and deliver it.

It is a thing of beauty.

Sadly, I put one in the crusher back in the eighties as no one wanted it.

Once fitted with the cylinder liners and a large enough radiator, these were fine engines. The original application, Chevy Vega sub-compact car, used a radiator barely big enough and it was prone to overheating when drivers never checked the coolant level. Sounds familiar?
