You don't mention which country you are in so it's not clear just which version of the '120Y' you have. The B210 [1974 to '77] or the B310 [1978 to about '82]?

Engines that will bolt straight into your car include.......................
A12 [1974 onward] 1171cc
A12A, 1237cc
A13 [long stroke '74 B210 version] 1289cc
A13 [short stroke B310 version] 1270cc
A14 1397cc
A15 1488cc

Basicly, any Datsun A series engine that has the distributor mounted near No. 3 cylinder.
A series engines up to 1973 [1000's & 1200's] had a forward mounted distributors & different engine mount positions, & while they can be made to fit easily enough, they will not "bolt straight in"

Thanks for that info, I am in Australia by the way. So If installing an A15, would the flywheel from my current engine bolt onto the A15? Also would the exhaust have to be modified?
Cheers
Ben

L series motors bolt into 120y's as well.
180B crossmember bolts up (from memory) and then take your pick of an L series

You might want to include some basic location information in your profile to avoid any confusion in the future.

If you are going to use your original gearbox, then use your original flywheel. The original 120Y gearbox was not used behind the larger engines but will fit & work well behind one anyway as long as you don't abuse it. Treat it with respect & it will last for many years, but if you practice your burnout technique with it, the service life will be less.

Also, don't practice flat-shifting with them either . Dam peer pressure

will the L series gear box fit in the tunnel without any mods to it?

if you have an auto tunnel it will fit no worries.
The stanza 5spd fits in a manual tunnel snuggly, not sure about any others.
