= Very nose heavy car.
i dont know bout you but i would think any more than say 150 rwkw in a 1000 would be mental a ca18det can get 200kw at the wheels reasonbly easliy (not cheaply) imagine what a sr would be up to!!!!

the reason I ask, is I have an offer of a cheap Natro SR20 and gearbox, and as I look around the yard, I see a yellow two door thats gagging to have big HP, I can drop in a spare A15 I have, and thats really easy,
I'll already have the 1000 wagon with a strong little A14/5 speed combo,
so the SR1000 will be a project, toy..

A good start would be to grab a measuring implement & start measuring.

The distance between the cross member & the underside of the bonnet is less than other small Datsuns, but other dimentions should be adequate. so measure it well before comiting yourself to the project.

Simply having an engine on hand is not really a good reason by itself to defile such a lovely car. Check the weights of the two engines & add a bit for the larger radiator & see if you can get some sort of end for end percentages of weight.

I think that the larger SR20 engines seem to work best in slightly larger cars like B310 Sunnys, Stanzas & 1600's etc.

If you are in NSW, apparantly the larget turbo motor allowed for the b10 is 1600's and the larget na is 1800's.

I agree with dodgeman, perhaps you should get a cheap 1600. I think you will find the weight is a bit too much for the b10. But hey, it would be the quickest thing on the street. I know its blaspheming but I think the 4age is the best b10 engine.

sr20 in the 1000 would only be good for one thing....... going in a straight line the weight of the sr20 is about 150 almost double that of the a10 it would throw the handling right out but if you wanna do it good luck it would be really fast and fun

which figures are you basing this on? cos i can tell u with p/s a/c and a smaller intake manifold you would be getting pretty damn close to a series weight.

Add to this moving the battery and an alloy radiator and i reakon there would be a bees dick in it.

Let me know if you want any sr20de measurements and i can chuck the measuring tape around mine.

Cheers,

Richard

mad120y there is 63 kg's difference between the a12 and the sr20 the a10 is smaller and lighter so there is probbly about 65-70 kg's difference between the a10 and sr20 that's almost double the weight i got these figures here at the bottom of the page
