Well,
Those of you who have been paying atttention to my posts for the last while, May be aware that my blown A15 hasn't been running lately.
With NZ having been in the grip of the nastyest winter for the last forty years, it's been hard to get enthused with the datto.
Now that there being a few nicer days, I've been able to pay some attend to it.
going off some stuff I learn when helping a mate with his V8, I sussed out what my problem was.
I kicked it in the guts yesterday, and the basterd actually went!
So watch this space. I fully intend to squeeze as much grunt out of it as I can. There'll be drag racing, anf dyno'ing to be had.
I've got an H165 diff, and a 63 series G/box lined up. So there's lots of fun to be had.

Basicly, The spark plugs were shot.
I had been running BP7ES's, on account of the motor being forced fed. This coupled with the tune being very rich, and a couple of severe floodings when I ugraded the fuel pump, meant that they could no longer cut it. I tried everything I could think of, but it wouldn't go right. Then a mate of mine who crusty holden V8 which was doing the same thing, came right with new plugs.
Problem fixed.
goes to show, even almost brand new plugs can let you down. I'd had no problems with them when I was giving it death. But too much inactivity created the problem.

I gave the old girl a road test last night.
Admittedly, I haven't driven it for about six months. And I've only been driving an A31 Slofiro. But far out it scares me. All I need now is a sawg of new ball joints, some new tyres, and a few other odds and ends and I can make it road legal again.

thats great cant wait to see a video of it...with the plugs I had to run bp5es NGK plugs whisc are the hottest for the A series. I just ran twin 40's. I was running BP6ES and they would foul in no time...and you cant clean them either they are gone...throw them in the bin.....

I too am running plugs for GM V8 in my A12 (NGK BP4, which is one heat range hotter that stock for Datsun 1200).

Here are the heat ranges for US models:
BP6E - 1971
BP5ES -1972-1976
BP5ES-11 1977-78 (can also use BP6 or BP7 for cold, BP4 for hot)
