Is there an off the shelf engine mount upgrade for the A series motor? The original ones aren't up the job.
Please don't ask me to do a search, I've only got dialup and I don't have the time to fish through zilloins of threads.

Any suggestions welcome.

Im not sure, i just asked for cortina ones at the parts store, i used them with my L-series swap. They are M10 bolts instead of M8 so the holes in your engine mounts and crossmember need to be enlarged slightly, they are a round mount about a inch thick.

Also might have to grind the lip off the crossmember to if i remember right, been a while since i really looked at a standard crossmember!

Oh and they cost about $40 each!

If they aren't as thick as the original ones, I can't use them. My engine is already slung as low as it can go. There's only about half a finger between the sump and the xmember.

I would solid mount it like I did in my race car. I put a 5mm poly urethane spacer between mount and cross member to absord some vibrations. Used to idle nicely so not too harsh with vibrations and you'll never have to worry about mounts again....

I don't have a particularly sweet idle. Plus it's suposed to be a street car.

These are the "Cortina mounts" (Kelpro MT8158N)

37mm high, ~5mm less than stock.

Maby run some spacers?

Thankyou cable tie. I might be able to get away with 5mm lower.

If worst comes to worst, simply pack it with a 3mm [or whatever] spacer on each side of the engine mount proper. This way you recover your static height while not robbing the studs of too much of their thread length.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Noltec [or someone] remanufactures engine mounts using urethane technology. Not cheap, but it's an alternative for some.
