There seem to have been a small number of genuine 1200GX cars sold in Australia to allow them to be raced in certain production events.
I say this because, if it is true, then Nissan Australia would need to service these cars with parts, & I was able to buy a new head, all the right valves, the springs & a quantity of other engine parts, ex Melbourne, back in the early 80's. More than this, I was not the only person to do so as I was put onto the availability of these parts by a mate that had already bought a new head for the 1200 engine in his 1000 coupe.

It would seem that the 'GX' bonnet was not included on Aussie models as this was a 1973 item I believe, & it would also seem that the five speed was not sold here for the same reason.
I therefore conclude that there was basicly a single batch of GX cars sold here, & they were made before the introduction of the 1973 upgrades.

This makes it hard to find one as they look just like a regular model except for the badging, so I wish you good fortune as the original number of cars would have been quite small, & the number of unmolested survivors would be VERY small. Very small indeed.

Hi...
I only know three genuine 1200 GX in Portugal and all of them are RHD so they were all imported.
The coupe of Rventura and two four door sedans.

There was one for sale in the Melbourne Trading post about a year ago, It was a basket case, no badges but it had GX on the compliance plate. So they do exist in OZ. Cheers. Adam.

I kept my GX compliance plate...I guess if I was a used car salesman I could stick in on a normal sedan and sell it for a mint.

Fortunately I've managed to retain my morals, ethics and concience.

I saw a genuine GX Coupe in Leeton NSW(think between Wagga and Griffith), talking to the old guy that owned it, he used to work in Canberra and brought it from some consulate staff.
I offered to buy it from him and gave him my details.

HAHAAAAAAAAAA

I have a genuine GX.
They are quite plentyfull here in South Africa. Just a few that are in good condition.
Check my website to see how they look in South Africa.
I have only replaced my rims. The rest is genuine South African GX.
We didn't get the GX bonnet here.

Nice 1200GXman

Have you got a close up of your grill?

I have one of these - but the centre badge (which has since been stolen) seems different on yours. The badge I had looked like 3 "S" symbols intertwined (if you know what I mean)

Sorry, unfortunately I do not have a closeup of the grill.
Our GX's just had a D on the centre badge with a blue and yellow vertical lines in the centre running through it.
And then the GX on the right hand of the grill.
