just a quick question:

what oils are people running in their pride and joys?
i'm about to do the engine/gearbox replacement and will put new oil in before they go in. will also replace the diff oil.

so what oil is in your gearbox, engine and diff?

keep in mind this is a very warm A15 and a T50 celica gearbox and a H165.

thanks

castrol gtx 30W for the engine or something like that.
some sort of synthetic 75w90 for gearbox and diff.

worn engines will put lots more carbon and petrol vapor into the oil, there are some oils for 'high milage' engines, but i haven't used those.

when i change oils, maybe the royal purple 10w30 since it'll be a long time before i change oil again.

yeh, this engine isn't worn, it is however fairly high performance.
the GTX 3 was what i was leaning to. and i'm pretty sure im going to get one of topgears LSDs so castrol syntrax 75w90 will be used for the gearbox and diff.

thanks all

i see now it says 'warm' not 'worn' d'oh.

one thing, the syncros in the gearboxes work better with thinner oil, so you protect syncros or the gears, probably not both.
