Is there a simple & non-destructive way to disable the steering column lock on a 1200?

I'm picking up a new car w/ no keys.

Any ideas?

PS, I'm up for grinding off the one way bolts. Or destroying the ignition section ( I have spares).

I used a hammer and chizel onthe heads of the bolts that held the colomn lock so I could get a screwdriver on them. it took a while.

So maybe use a grinder to cut a slot & take a slotted screwdriver, and back the one way bolts off?

Use a dremel with a cutting disk. Like a grinder cutting disk.

I normally just grind a flat spot on top, centre punch and drill out the set screw with a 3.5mm drill.

The threads left remaining are easily removed once the lock is detached from the column.

But now that I think about it, I've just remembered that these screws are hardened, and they aren't easy to drill out, but I know I have done it this way at least once. But try to cut a slot for a straight blade screwdriver.

the key number is on the ignition thingy majigger.
get the seller to tell you before you pick it up n then get 1 cut. its not expensive.

most datsuns ignition barrels are so worn out, that you can start them with any key.

Get a centre punch and a hammer and slowly tap the heads of the anti theft screws in a anti clockwise direction. do this until you can twist them with your thunb and fore finger. This is the way we do it in the work shop when having to fit new locks. Cheers. Adam.
