New to these engines that were actually made in the 90's - I'm after a new timing belt....

I figure Nissan is one option - where do other people find they get a good deal on a good timing belt for a CA18DET in Melbourne?

Also what do you pay? - I'll be getting a price of Nissan tomorrow....so will be good to compare.

just shop around your parts places like bursons and repco etc for a CA18DE one, its exactly the same..
just say you have a 1989 exa 1.8 ca18 engine, i think it cost me about $45 for mine at mates rates.

I gave Nissan a call - they say $81.

I gave Burson (clayton) a call - (would prefer I look at the number on the timing belt when I remove it before giving me a price.)

Repco told me $46 - but like Burson - were keen to double check the OEM number on the belt before being sure.

So $45 is probably about right....will get the number of the belt over the weekend.
