We have a dead '74 Toyota Hilux here and I'm thinking it may donate its rear end into one of our 1200's. How much abuse would it take? I see that there's a rally car or two with one of these but I don't know if they use the stock LSD or what.

Basically I want to know how the LSD would hold up to constant abuse, say at regular drifting events. I know the rest of the diff is real strong, I just dont want to end up with an LSD thats worn out and not rebuildable or replaceable.

The hilux diff is super strong , i would be very surprised to break one in good order with a HI HP turbo 6 cylinder , the down side they are a heavy diff around 80kgs compared to 45 kgs for a h165 ute diff ,

ANGE has one in his ute, came out of LAGWAGONs CA1200, they might be able to varify that its up to the abuse

I know its a strong diff. I'm asking about the LSD in the diff.

How will the LSD hold up? Are parts available to rebuild or replace the LSD?

My mate has 410 hp at the wheels in his ute and it runs low 10s. he also does half 1/4 mile skids in it all day. with slicks too.

The hilux lsd has hold up for 3 years now. so they are stong.

Dang, so all Toyota Hilux pickups have this diff? I'm stoked. I wonder how big the ring gear is.

I'm curious how big it is in comparison to the stock diff. It sounds like its closer in size to a ford 9" or something if it can handle that power.

How wide is it in comparison to the stock axle housing?

the 1970 hilux is about 1275cm wide the newer ones are a bit wider. they all have the same size centres.

the arn't as bid as a ford 9inch.
