So,

I'm off to Bathurst this weekend to see the mighty Ford claim the mountain... (hopefully)

I'm thinking about taking the ute down, because I'll need somewhere to put the beer... suppose I better take a tent too.

Now, the ute has the standard a12, with standard radiator and 4 speed box. I've noticed that the revs are also quite high as well, (I reckon over 3.5k) so with the majority of the trip being 100-110kmph do you guys think that I will run into any overheating problems on my way up there?

It's got a recently replaced head gasket (thanks Tyrie ) fresh oil and fresh coolant as well. Only thing that's wrong with it at the moment is the valves are ticking a little bit (first time adjusting the clearences)

So whatdaya reckon guys?

Have fun, I've been to the Mountain a few times myself and I'm quietly hoping for a Ford win too. it's long overdue.

Utes and wagons have a 4.37:1 diff standard i think, well i just pulled one out of my wagon. I was doing about 4k at 60mph, i have since cut 500rpm off that with a 4.11.

I got my wags from Bridgetown, a good 300km south from home! Half way home the head decided to go. It was the head corroding through so aslong as you checked that when you had the head off you should be ok heating wise. The wags also had a over 70% blocked rad and still managed 150km!!!

It had/has a A12 in it too!

Good luck!
