hey everyone,
I haven't been on this site in a while, I just recently bought a house and getting internet has taken ages, plus my firewall wont let me on this site.
I finally got my coupe up and running again.
Heres my story of what has happened.

I used to run an MTx8 (microtech) ecu but it suddenly stopped working, it was as though it wasn't recieving a CAS signal so thus not fire, so I decided to upgrade to the new LT8s, so I did but I had to also buy the Microtech LT4 (their ignitor), I never got a wiring diagram with that and after a little trial and error I wasn't getting anywhere until a guy on the microtech forums told me the proper wiring.
Got it all in and I wrote out all my old maps from my old ECU and put them in my new ECU I took it for a spin, except the spark would break up when it would go WOT (wide open throttle).

At the same time would come up with a water and air temp sensor error, so I assumed the water temp sensor error would cause it to into limp home mode so retarding timing etc....
I took it for a long drive and noticed on the drive that the car had no power and I listened carefully and noticed one cylinder wasn't firing, so when I got home I checkd out the coils, and noticed coil 4 was actually split and a part of the winding had fallen out, I thought damn it's crapped itself, so I swapped a spare one I had in there, same thing it didn't fire on that cyl, after trying it and having it runnign for a bit trying to troubleshoot I turned it off and came back o it an hour later, and sure enough cyl 4's coil had split but a smaller split.

It was in the ignitor, the IGBT (power transistor) went closed circuit so put 100% dwell to that coil, therefore overworking it to destruction. Microtech wouldnt' help with warranty as it wasn't installed by an official microtech installer, so I replaced that to find out cyl 2 coil is arcing out to the outside of the coil and not actually sparking where it should...

So all I need is one more coil to be back to 100%

Well thats my novel for today :)

I hope no one has to go through that crap I have over the past few months

Cheers
Damo

having a bunch of failures it seems, is there something else wrong? output transistors sometimes die, but then to have another problem.

sure it's wired and configured right? you might want to look things over - if some mysterious thing happend and that transistor went to on all the time mode, maybe something else is bad too.
