What weird experiences have people had in their datsuns?

I will start the ball rolling.

This one isnt about me, but my parents. They used to have a 1200 ute for their work about 20 years ago. They had a little canopy on back so they could sleep in there. They used to set up a little tent outside so they could put all the stuff in there. Once they were camping and it was a really windy night.... and dad forgot to put the handbrake on. So they woke up in the morning to find the tent missing.... or not! it was 200 metres across the paddock! And it started to slope down about fifty metres futher on into a valley!

What have you got?

When I had my first Sunny about 3 or 4 years ago, a friend and I went to the Big Day Out and both got this really gross coffee stuff. Anyway, we never drank it and I kept my bottle of stuuf in the car just as a keepsake kinda thing, but then lost it because I had old denim jeans all sewn togetther for my car seats and someone put it in one of the pockets (I never used to clean my car by the way). After about a year and a half I was pulled over in the Broadwater car park for a "random" search, and the cop finds this mankky bottle of coffee in one of the pockets.
And do you know how hard it was to try and convince him it wasn't bong water
After that I still kept the bottle in the boot I don't know why

when I was 17 I had a 200B rust bucket as a pizza delivery car. One night I had to make a delivery to a house in the semi rural district of my town and had to climb quite a steep gravel driveway, naturally when your 17 and struggling to make some money, tyres are not really much to worry about and I definately didn't worry about them at all, which is what landed me in this predicament.
I got up the steep gravel driveway fine but on the way down in reverse I just touched the brakes a tad and the car just locked the front wheels up on the slippery gravel causing the car to slide around till it was sliding sideways and nestled itself between an old tree stump and a huge rock, to look at it you wouldn't think it was possible to get the car in there, it was similar to the blue brothers parralel parking manouvre except I didn't mean to do anything but slow down!
I had to get my mate to pull me sideways out and turn me around facing the right direction, what an embarassment

STORY #1
Well when i had my old B310 Sunny, i would occasionally(RE:every weekend) go for a thrash in the pines(pine plantation, lots of limestone roads, very fun). It is especially fun when you go out just after the rain... big puddles you see! so thrashing through the puddles on my way home and thought 1 more wont hurt... i lined it up and hit it at about 80km/h. This puddle was about 50m long and about 1m wide so i hit it with only the 2 left wheels...

it spun the car 90degrese with brakes locked it slowly wiped off most of the speed before tilting on the 2 right wheels to what i recon was about30degrese then BANG. back on all 4! rolled a tyre off the rim doing that too!

STORY #2
Same car, same limestone road, just at the other end of it where it turns to pee gravel. had 2 mates, both in 80series Toyota Landcruisers behind me. Big powerslide, lost it coz i saw a car heading the opposite way. spun 180 to see my mate in the criuser no heading straight for me, brakes locked, sideways!!!

Ahh what fun you have with a $500 car, got told off for it having limestone dust on it all the time by my parents. They reconed it devalued the house???

When I was a young tacker we lived on a farm & had a 520 as the farm ute.
Also had a newer Datto 1500 ute w/ steel tray etc.

Was fixing my ol' trusty RM80 & need a tool that was in the 1500.
The olds (in the 1500) were out around the cows on the trundle rd. paddock.
So of course I jumped in the 520 & went to find 'em.

Now the trundle rd. paddock had this dirty great erosion ditch in the middle, but there was one section where it was basically flat that you could hit at full tilt.

So here I am hurtling down the hill, looking under the steering wheel (I was about 10), heading for the flat spot.......

About 1/2 way down the hill I realise.... Oh ####! Wrong spot - Was heading for a 6' deep erosion ditch.
So of course I hit the brakes.... This is when I discovered that bald tyres & wet grass don't give much traction......
The end result was an almighty 'thump'.

My olds intercepted me heading to the scene of the crime in the old tractor..... I thought if I could get it out they wouldn't notice .

rolled 2 dattos within about 12 hrs
1st datto 1200 wagon with light truck tyres on the back, almost missed the turn off and hooked it too fast around the corner and had the car on 2 wheels and landed the car on the drivers side this was at about 4.30 in the morning, rang a mate an he came help me push it back over ....

then about 3 that arvo rallying a 180b sedan and blew a rear trye and sent me of
an embankment rolled over 2 times and landed on the wheels..

also in the 1200 wagon chasing rabbits on a oval and saw a nice big drain comming and of course i hit the brakes and slid straight in to it

I have tow started a holden 1 ton ute with my 1200 ute it was quite funny when he let the clutch my back tires just started spinning. I told him it was cos i had to much power

I also got dared to go thru this creeck crossing in the 1200 to. So i go for it but it was um a little slippery an deep so i had to stop. It was that deep you could hear the water going up the exhurst
when i got towed out the datto still ran just that i had to sit in water up to the bottom of the seat . When we got out i just parked on a slope an open the door to let the water out.
