Well it was a hell of a race.

A sad day for all fans of Michael Schumacher.

A end of a era.

very sad to see MS retire. He's still at the height of his powers, and it was only a run of bad luck towards the end of the season that robbed him of the championship. Blown engine in the last race when he had it sewn up. problems with the car through qualifying in this race which saw him miss the last qualifying session, and an early puncture in the race which left him dead last!

He still put in the drive of the race last night, coming back to 4th after an early puncture left him last - 19th! He was the fastest man on the track all day, setting fastest sector times as he tore back through the field, until getting held up behind the second Renault when he caught him and was in 5th place. Fissie couldn't hack the pressure and went off, and MS set the fastest lap of the race on the last lap - no-one else got within 6/10ths of his fastest lap. Alonso, F1's biggest sook, was 8/10ths slower. And all this when he had absolutely nothing to gain out of it - just purely because of his competitive spirit.

He's still the best driver in the field. I definitely don't think he should retire yet.

I agree, F1 won't be the same without him. F1 needs characters like MS without him it will be boring.

I think the big statements being made that he is the greatest driver of the generation are probably true - he really is that good.

Watch for the surprise announcements of his return.......
