What do you mean to an A14? The reverse swtich wires don't actually have anything to do with what type of motor it is.

get a multimeter and set it to buzz, put one lead on each of the wires coming out of swithch, put it in reverse, if you hear a beep you got it.

or if it doesnt have a beep mode just set it on resistance, should be 0 (or close to it) in reverse and 1 when not in reverse

the a14 boxes & later a12 boxes have a top gear switch which turns off the vaccum advance in the lower gears.this switch has spade style connectors & is the switch closer to the front of the gearbox.the reverse light switch is the one closer to the rear of the gearbox & has bullet style connectors.if you hook up the top gear switch, the reverse lights will be on all the time, except when it's in 4th gear(personal experience talking there, usually through my hat )

That's interesting about the 5th gear switch. I'd have thought the two were neutral switch and reverse switch, both going closed circuit, when the shifter is in position. So you could hook up the 5th speed switch to a sign in the back window that says "Hammer Time". I was going to hook up the accellerator kickdown switch to such a sign back when I was 20 or so It's an old joke at my place.
