If you're planning on running it on premium fuel you should be able to advance the timing a bit for a slight power increase.

mate just do al the regulars. 2.5 inch exhaust, airfilter timing get it tuned properly, even tuning stock computer properly can have gains on a motor that is out of tune. and change all your oils, and adjust clearances on everything it does make a big difference especially in a large engine in a datsun

Hay dude, I am doing the same conversion, CA18DE into 1200 ute. KEGS is on the money with performance gains. Do all the simple bolt on stuff first. Air filter, exhaust, service and tune. I Myself have done port match the intake, mild port and polish intake of head, major port and polish of exhaust side of head and port match exhaust manifold. I am basically getting my donk ready for high RPM power and NOS (nos will come much later down the track). For this FORGED pistons are first on the shopping list. I have also opened up the throat of my plenum so I can fit a larger throttle body, I can now fit up to 68mm. I am also chasing a good set of cams, which is proving to be a bit of a problem, been quoted $1200 so far. An upgrade to turbo injectors is also a good idea too.
