Hi everyone.

I seem to be getting some vibration/wobbling from the B310 when I reach certain speeds. After some checking, all the engine and gearbox mounts have been changed, but there is still some wobble, which feels like its coming from the back end. Could it be the drive shaft. But I just had all the bearings replaced and the shaft was balanced( its the kind with 3 CV joints). In fact it was taken out and refitted because there was still some vibration. I notice some left/right movement of the gear stick and slow speeds. The vibration dies down at higher speeds. I dont think its the wheels cause I had them balanced and the shop didnt tell me if they were bent. I am still using the stock 12 inch steel rims . But ill try swapping them out for another set this weekend.

Anyone know what else to look at.

could be berrings in your rear wheels, maybe your diff is on the way out but im sure you would her some noises to do with that.. .has the car ever been in a accident before?

hmmm. there is no noise from the diff. as for the accident, I dont think so. The body does not show signs of any bad impact. Could the rear axle mounts being weak of broken be the cause of too much free play. when slow driving, the cars rear has a left right movement when I go over any bumps. But its not very bad.

If the vibration is there at low speeds, I would check for seperation of the rear tyres. I know you said that you just had them balanced but if the tyre guys aren't looking for a fault sometimes they slip through. Cheap way to tell, put your spare on one side and go driving. Repeat for the other side, this should find the problem.

true true. Planning to swap both rear tyres with a pair I know is good. Hopefully thats the fault. :)

Also most tyre balancers have a cover over them so that you can't see the tyre, It just tells you that it is out of balance but you can't see that its also out of round.
Would nearly bet a six pack that this is the problem.

I had a new rear tyre put on my commodore last year, paid for a balance and alignment and when I picked it up I noticed a strange vibration above 90kmph, had a look at the new tyre and it was a directional tyre that was correctly fitted BACKWARDS! silly buggas

You don't say how fast you are going. We had a guy in the last year, report a similar problem, then told us that it only happens over 90 miles per hour..

A lot of debate stopped shortly after..

But yes, bad tyres will cause a lot of problems.

Even brand new cheap tyres will have problems with balance and vibrations.

The speedo's not very accurate, but if im not mistaken, the vibration could be felt at about 60km/h to about 80km/h .Once you reach about 90Km/h the vibration starts to die down.
