yes it is apperently fairly straight forward, havnt done it myself so no personal experience, but the z series blocks are pretty much an L series so it should be easy

and the L series heads flow better than the Zs so performance would be better than a stock Z series

Yep, pretty straight forward as PIGDOG said. It should just bolt on.. May have to plug an oil hole (can't recall) or something like that but nothing major, bolt holes line up fine. Need to use L-series dizzy unless you can find a 4 plug NAPS engine (rare). Use either a Z20 or Z22 block. Z24 may cause clearance issues depending on application and are more likely to crack.

Stock L-series head on a Z block shouldn't have much of an increase in power but it may be noticeable, depending on which head you use. However, the potential is far greater. L-series heads (depending) can be ported much more, bigger valves can be fitted, peanut chambers, better cams, etc..

Bore and stroke a Z22 block with a decent worked L-series head and you'll have plenty of get up and go.

but how much more work is required, and what size bore do you need?

Look at ozdat.com all info there.
Its best to use the Z block like yours but also can be done to an L series.
All homework already done and very cheap heads at wreckers.

I can't help with the KA24 info. It has been done though.

As for L-series and NAPS-Z combos with regard to blocks/pistons/rods/cranks check out the link below. I can't find it right now but I'll post it up as soon as I find it.

Now cylinder heads. There's a great site with all the l-series head info on it. Casting #'s, chamber size, port sizes, etc.. If I can't find it I may be able to find the info somewhere else...

Now with all that being said. I MUST ask what your application is for. If you can tell us what you're looking for in terms of power, economy, reliability, cost, etc.. as well as what parts you have available to you then it might be easier to direct you to info on what head/block combos to use. If you have an L-series smog head then I'd reccomend ka24 head or try to source another L-series head with greater potential unless emissions are your main concern ;)

Anyone have more info Z22 blocks cracking? I've never heard of them being prone to it.Here's the link

back to your original question, yes it can be done (it has been done), but most people have gone on to other things such as the ka24e stated above

as far as specs go, it's all relative
