They're not really all that hard to find, you just need to look, & to persevere.

Late model Sunny Sportswagons came with them in Australia & you don't even need to get your hands dirty to see if a possible donor car has one, as the engine model is listed on one of the manufacturers build plates on the firewall. If it says A15[S], then that's when you get your hands dirty to confirm that it is the original engine.
The only gearbox that these used was the F4W60L as the auto was NOT an option in wagons.

Just grab a yellow pages & let your fingers do the walking.
I have come across three of these so far.

Hopefully, others will tell you which versions of the Van [Urvan?] came with them as well.

I'd take the time to check the engine number on the engine as well as the compliance plate though.....

I picked up a sunny wagon a few years ago - A15 engine number on the VIN plate, once I pulled the motor out and actually checked the engine number i found it was an A14.

Not too much of a drama if you have read the A14 vs A15 thread.

Vannette's had A15's.

Didnt know it was a thing that the sportswagons had em. By late i assume you mean square light(1980 on).

Yet another car to look out for!

Mildman.
I remembered your story & I covered that point.

Beattie.
'SOME' Vanettes had A15's. Most of them seem to have had A12's.
Sportswagon, last year of production, & even then, not the whole year, apparently, just the last six or nine months from what I'm told.

the a15 vanette had a 3-letter code like SL/X or GT-R or something like that. Pretty sure it wasnt GT-R though

Cheers for the info guys, yeah i've scrolled through the a14 v a15 thread, plus in tech section also.

Thought i had one this week but it was a j15, have been advised not to touch it.

In the new year when all the wreckers open up again i shall commence my search again.

Cheers,
Geoff.

as I'm trying to ressurect my 1955/56 Austin A50 a J15 would be good...

however the spare A12 I have is good as it's similar Hp and torque ratings to the original 1489cc B series four...

I;m not really wanting an A14/A15 for my 120Y either... I like the A12 atm...

there was a double fatality car crash in quairading on thursday night... It's hit the community like a sledgehammer!

Ah yes Dodgeman - guess I wanted to reinforce the point, (and maybe I didn't read that sentence as well I could have).

Funny thing about the engine codes though is my vanette engine doesn't have any markings on the block. But I'm keeping my eye out for you bud
