Hello there all
Does anyone know of any secong hand Motec ECU's with wiring harnesses that might be around?
My very very old Halteck just died during practice & am not in need of one as soon as possible.
I am looking for something in the the M4 or M48 range.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i am not familiar at all with microtec ECU's.
Are they OK? How do they compare to Motec especially considering they are are so much cheaper?

I have stuffed around with a couple of second hand ECU's and would recommend buying new unless you get a good clean well labelled one etc.
You would think it would be easy cause you can get the schematics off the net but it always ends up being more difficult than you think.
I put a second hand Motec M4 on my old FJ20 and could not get the computer to interface with a laptop. That sort of thing you can't check when you buy them.

I had a microtech LT8 ready to install on my FJ20 but all the tuners I went to said they arent that crash hot, with fewer tuning levels than higher end systems (like motec). They are cheap and get the job done, but I dont think they even compare to motec's for features and tunability, IMO. My 120Y runs an Autronic computer, which are supposed to be pretty good

I've been told by an UNknown source that the microtechs are not that accurate...ie if you put in a value of 4 ms of fuel....it will give 4 ms +/- 15% fuel??
The source also said wolfs and Haltechs?? were +/- 3%
Since you have the Microtech already why don't you install it and compare it to the autronic you have..
Then you can come back here and give an unbiased opinion about the pros and cons of the 2 systems!!.

The thing is i only have a fuel only Haltech F7 which is over 20 years old. I am surprised it has worked under race conditions for this long.
A number of people have said that the Motec is essentially the benchmark for comparison.
I waa warned against Wolf type & apparantly Haltech are simply a bit to complicated whereas the Motec does everything in one unit & is super simple.
Again, i am only new to this so i have nothing but speculations to go on and when i saw the Microtech items forsale they would have been a much cheaper option.
Looking at the each of the manufactureres websites they give an indication of what sort of cars use them and seeing massive 1000hp dragsteres down to circuit cars all running fine im nothing short of more confused.

There seems to be a number of good alternatives to a Motec - does anyone have any other form of good ECU for sale?
