Hey,
anybody actually put an SR20DET into the 1200??
One of my bosses worked for nissan for 20 years, and said to Sell my 200SX, and buy his 1200, and put an SR20DET in it.
Can it be done without too much hassel?
I get parts and labour 50% off, so hopefully I'll try this.
Maybe even a 1JZ? lol

Most recent thread asking about this was yesterday - and yes a few people have put an SR20DET into a 1200.

Check this out

Also check the Datsun1200 wiki about engine swaps.

Happy reading!

thanks LOL,
I'm sure an SR20DET powered 1200, would be much faster than an SR20DET powered
S12 200SX.
Maybe would make a great Drift car too...hmmm *ponders*

1200's do handle pretty well and have a good feel when sliding so quite possibly they could make a good drift car.

I have hear some people concerned that becuase it doesn't have IRS that it wont drift well - but a lot of old muscle cars drift find without IRS....

My ca18det powered 1200 with a 23mm front sway bar now violently oversteers. I need a rear swaybar now, to regain some balance.

i haven't got a turbo setup but my A15 ute goes hard, drifting on fine sand (don't think it'll handle tarmac too well) it is so much fun to drive.
I put a little clutch to get er sideways and its as simple as counter steering to keep it that way. The only thing is when i want to go straight again it does snap back a little bit.

I have drifted in a full drift spec S15 and it was crazy, it handled so well, but the thrill of drifting in my ute is so much more fun ha ha ha. So easy to spin out. sorry a little bit unrelated seen as how you guys are talking about turbo cars, but i have had my ute doing 90kp/h in four wheel drift on a slight bend on gravel i think that deserves to be on this thread lol
any ways now i'm blabbing. ty
