well it's been 2 months and a nother pile of money, but my silly car has recovered from the bad oil pump, and is probably better for it.

we found:
1 messed up oil pump
the last overhaul missed a worn valve guide, that's fixed ( explains why it was making sounds like it needed the valves adjusted. )
compression raised a little

it's much happier now!

i'm sure a less foolish person would have already given up ;)

no improvements i m sure, just things that needed doing, thats what my excuse is anyway

it's pretty much the same as before..
oh a block heater, for trips to the snow.

it's got an o2 sensor now, tps and will finally get the autronic lambda controller, hehe with a economy switch and POWER position

it has a bit more pep now as well.

i thought the tranny or diff started making noise on the way home and i was about to cry.
nothing like blowing second gear out in the parking lot of the dealer after a expensive visit.

if i had to have a car not a datsun. it would be a modern subaru. There aren't really any other options for me.

we figure $2000 a year n maintenance is way cheaper than a car payment and insurance on that car.

I'm not giving up, i've given up on too many project cars already, I regret getting rid of my subaru xt turbo. Never regretting ditching Nissan B11 sentras.

makes me want a belt drive oil pump.

anyone interested in nylon oil pump drive gears? maybe brass, aluminum anything softer than the cam!!!
