Hi All,
I'm trying to find an intercooler for a CA18det into 1200 ute. Thinking off going for a 500X200X70 approx size slightly different but want to be able to hide it as much as possible. My question for you is, is bar and plate or tube and fin better?
Thanks.

Edit: It has 2 inch outlets

You want to use a plate and bar type.

if you want to spend a bit of dosh then call plazmaman (wetheril park NSW) he makes the best coolers in Australia
dont make the mistake of buying a cheapie and think its going to fit and cool the way you want

and if the desgin is similar you can mount it so it looks like it intergrates into the stock metal grill.

Thanks guys,
They look good, but yeah they are a bit of money, might think about it a bit later. Think I'll keep looking too.

Yes because the way it is set up you can run shorter end tanks.

Mate, just about any size will fit behind a 1200 grille. If you're main aim is good value for your dollar (which i assume it is seeing as though you're wanting FREE advice haha) I had a cooler that was a little over one meter in total length including end tanks and it was all behind the grille. That was with a CA18det.

unless you are planning on conquering the world and need every last advantage of a 'custom' cooler i'd jump on ebay or look up just jap. They are cheap coz they are mass produced using chinese labour. they also weigh a little more but are still great coolers and can be had for as little as $100!

bar and plate, tube and fin... they are just different designs. its the restriction inside the core that is more important.

good luck!

Thanks Everyone
Yeah I'm after good value for my money. I was thinking the ones from justjap on ebay would bee good enough. Is the size I listed a good size as I'm unsure at how big is too big and how small is too small.
