does anybody know where in australia i can do a holden red 6 cylinder 202ci motor as an exchange perfomance engine like a kit engine already assembled and all the full work like stroker kit, boring out and assembly done as an exchange program.
its a bit off the rails i know but dad has just bought a 1 tonner ute and wants to beat my dato and all by keeping the 6 cylinder engine in it
but i actually think that he is serious, he has asked for my help and one of my other mates so anything would be appreciated
p.s. if i got to do the same work to a ca18det id have like 500hp
thanks kurt

dont hm 5star do thie exchange and you can option up some mods like boring, cam etc.
repco and stuff do as well but would you trust any of them?
try some holden forums, should be able to find someone with a hot 6 that wants to upgrade to a 5.7 gen 3 or something and offloading it cheap.

Repco's engine exchange is done through HM Gem so is very reputable. I doubt they do performance upgrades though.

If memory serves me correct Street Machine had an ongoing article of a build up of the old 202. They got roughly 300hp out of it without any major mods, all the kind of stuff you could do in your garage. I've got the issues tucked away somewhere, I could have a look through for ya.

Pulling a tonner with that should be a bitch though, better suited to an LJ Torana. You should smoke your old man!

Hahahaaaaaa. Sorry I just had to laugh at that combination of words. Well i guess it is correct in a sense. They do cover the cost of the tow from the workshop that fitted the engine back to their workshop to fix their ####ups. I think they even have their own tow truck nowdays.

the 202 has a simple formular to make a bit more power than stock
cam, 350 holley, extractors and exhaust.
a turbo 202 in an lj will run 10s or 11s but a tonner?

Had a horror story doc? I've never had an issue, yet we always used them for clevo's which are easy enough.

Ive never dealt with them firsthand. I know of 2 hills workshops, 1 I used to do electrical work for and another is a mates workshop. Both have had their fair share of problems with this companies so called rebuilt engines. Oil leaks, Knocking engines, Engines that are tired even before 5000ks, Engines that first service shows crap through the oil like the engines were never cleaned correctly in the rebuild stages.
Neither workshop will use these motors again.
Not big horror stories, just pain in the arse with time wasted for both customers and workshops.
