tyre vs rims width
Guest_
have 13 x 6 inch rims and have fitted 165/70 r 13 for the rears, fit nice, with the front however, the 165 /70 bulges a bit to rub on the front guards under extreme cornering... spoke to one tyre guy said could put 155 70 r13 on there or but 165 65 would actually be wider so no point going down in profile.

web check shows some samy 155 should only be fitted to max width of 5, 5.5 and some 6 inch rims... whats the go?

Im after some educated responses as i dont want to fang down the freeway take a corner and the bead separate from the rim.

guards are lipped but cant be pumped any more due to front guard flutes.

probably the 0 offset and 3 inchs of dish :) on a stanza front end

it only just catches but 155 should sort that out, then will 155 the rear if it works.

interesting info on the site too about how a narrower tyre actually gives you a better traction patch in the wet, leading to better grip and less spin.... but the right foot can contol that.

Yeah, depending on the tread wear and type of tyre you have on, usually a narrower tyre will dispel water faster than a wider one.

What kind of Datsun do you have? I don't see why you should have a problem with rubbing with that wheel/tyre combo. I recently put on some 13x7" wheels running 185/60/13 tyres on my Sunny and I don't have a problem with rubbing...

why do you have tyres that small on 6 inch rims in the first place?
shouldn't you be going for something like 205s and flares, they looked cool on mine when i had 13x7 0 offset rims....sure they sat about 2 inches out of the guard but thats not the point

165's on a 6" rim are borderline (you have to make sure you have the right flanges on your rims to LEGALLY fit them.

155's on a 6" rim would be ILLEGAL

Your tyre man don't know crap.

not sure if evryone will ike them and i like to tease...

they are old school roh chrome steel rims and just sorting out the front 2 tyres and center caps... might have to wait on the center caps though for a trip...
they are 0 offset so wider than i planned but will be perfect once i get the front a bit lower, once tyres are sorted.

once again ange, in my bargain basement price range, only reason to take them
