Electric or Manual? What should I use for my car's stock engine? Does it really matter or is it just personal preference?

Personal preference only, but I like the electric choke.

My personal preference: manual

I think personal preference is all its down to. Auto chokes are pretty reliable nowadays.

Mine (auto-choke) seems to work when it feels like it, it shuts off too early, and never seems to make the car idle at the same rpm's on a consistent basis. Once the motor is warm, the car runs like it was new, but the auto choke mechanism doing it's own thing totally at random is a bit of a mystery to me...

I'm looking for a Datsun 1200 choke cable assembly if anyone has one for sale. I am going to convert over to the earlier carb with manual choke.
