I'm back to GX carbs (from DGEV car & H-prod) head). I seem to recall that back 15 years ago when installed the GX engine that the car would starve out in some corners (lefts or rights only...can't remember) The cure was simple as rotating the float needle housing 90 degrees. I went to do that yesterday but noticed the float was that.......floating around by itself as opposed to be on the hinge that seats the needle , so now I'm second guessing. myself.

OK so fellow racers and track day gurus: On R compund tires will the GX carbs starve out and IS the simple cure rotating the float needle housing 90 degrees?? (Also keep in mind I tend to be the king of trail braking so I carry more corner speed than most folks.)

Thanks Matt; by rotating the top/needle housing the hinge part of the float needle/float ends up front to back if you will, so the condition would then occur during either sustained 1G accereration or braking.........neither which are an issue. My problem was that I don't remember the float being independant of the needle mechcanism.

Benny thanks for the clarification , as I stated previously.........I have looked inside the carbs in over a decade , also given I've got 3 motorcycles a Kart my son races and the daily drivers I amy have been mixing them up with the Datto.
My next question for you is do you have the same problem with your Hitachi SU's starving out?

Sorry Tom, I only use the Hitachi's for street duties. I use 40mm DCOE webers on the track.

Your explaination on adjusting the float needle settings sound quite logical though.

Im sure you will all let us know... I reckon the sports 2000 owners woul know the answer to your question straight away.
