im just going to start shoping around for new oil in the race car and was interested in what you guys use, what engine it is used in and also what you think of it as an oil. at the moment im using castrol edge i think that it is the sae 25-60 for high performance competition engines but ill have to check
also what grade do you guys think is suitable for a worked A15
thanks guys

I reckon you can't beat Penrite.
Product available for every application.

I'm using HPR15 for my CA18DET.

Maybe HPR30 for a modded A15.

I was a Penrite HPR15 user for a long time with my CA18DET but I have recently changed to Castrol Edge 25W-50. I wouldn't see a drama with you using this in an A15 as well.

Coops' suggestion of HPR30 is a good one too.

Matty

Once everything set HPR15

Penzoil Synthetic 25-60 was poo

Don't go too light or too heavy
HPR15 or HPR30
Or maybe 10/10ths 25-60

I would have to agree that the penrite HPR 15 & 30 are very good oils. Although I am speaking from motorbike experience, I use it in my enduro bike which cops a HAMMERING for upto 8 hours a day in an ambient temperature of 40 degrees plus.

If you are going to go the full synthetic option, use a mineral or semi-synth until your engine is worn in. If you use fully synthetic on a new engine, it may work so well your engine will remain 'tight' and take a long time to reach its optimum tolerances, and therefore maximum horses.

also my grandfather being an ex motor mechanic has been helping a lot and in my 60 series 4 speed we have been running a mixture of 1 third automatic transmission oil to 2 thirds lsd sae 90 gear oil. this give the gearbox an awesome slipery feel and easyer gearchanges what do you guys think of that also

Ford recommends ATF in the T5

Can't hurt I guess as long as there is suficient fluid level
Some boxes don't run much fluid so I wouldn't use too thin an oil in that instance
