With regular servicing........ It will probably outlast the car!

It will be fine as long as you keep it tuned ect.

The rings will force you to change the engine before anything breaks in it.

You'll find even the timing chain wont get loose.

The original A12 was designed and tested to run at 4500 rpm all day long.

These are tough little engines. Just be sure to change the oil once in a while to prevent excessive ring wear. The newer A-series don't seem to hold up as well, they are still tough but more likely to start smoking. perhaps they changed the cast-iron specification or ring specification.

I drove my datto ute from Sydney to Townsville and she sat on 4000 - 4500RPM (trying to keep up with the missus in the XR8) all day long and didnt miss a beat. Still driving it now with no problems 1 year later, Just carry out regular maintainence and servicing and you will have very little to worry about.

Alot of things will fail before the engine. Make sure you have a set of fresh points in it, new thermostat, belts, hoses, oil an filter an you will have no probs

Yeah the A12 is real durable. Stick to regular maintenance and it should never skip a beat.
