I have a datsun 1200, changed the 1200 struts, control arms as well as the tension rods that go from control arm to front of car to ones which come on the nissan1400 ute. Question is i am getting knocking noise when going over bumps, could the tension rods be of incorrect length? any ideas on how to sort the noise out will be really appreciated. Also get squeaks when i turn the steering slightly while car is in motion.

did you nearly break the spanner doing up the nuts on all of the new parts you put in?

if not then you need to...

from experience when my brother put new shocks in his falcon, we didn't do up the nut that holds the bottom of the shock to the arm tight enough and it made a horrible knocking noise until we put it on a hoist and swung off it with a 3/4" drive breaker bar...
