Yes the 1200 centre is the go, you will still have to pull the axles out far enough so you can the centres in and out but it is a simple operation, you will be back on the road in 2 hours.

P411 bluebird axle housing
1000 axles
260Z rear drums
Topgear's LSD H165 centre

All bolt in! (apparently, ill be finding out the hard way soon). You just have to muck around making a driveshaft up to suit the new flange. But im looking into a diff gearbox at the smae time so it wont be a total waste!

Hmmm...thats the first time I've heard of a P411 axle housing in a 1000. So they have the same leaf spring spacing I take it ??!!? What tpye of diff are they, H165?? And are the alloy or steel centres???

APPARENTLY

They are the exact same width as a H145 out of a 1000 and do bolt up to the original leaves. And yes they are H165s. I think i read somewhere they are a alloy centre. probably with 3.9 - 4.11 ratios. 1000 axles can be used and S2 bluebird backing plates bolt up so you can use the 260Z big finned drums or something.

I found this out in a 3yr old post from D. And have since had semi confirmation from other members. have a search.

Ok! I know of a local residence with 3 parked out the front and grass growing all around. I might enquire about buying a diff. If there's two, I'll arrange for you to have a diff too.
Greg Southerland (aka Vixen) does a bmw brake convo to sunny/bluebird/etc H165's which is apparently pretty simple. I might hit him up for some more details. I'll keep you informed!

Cool but Lagwagon has already tracked down a housing for me

All i need to figure out to make sure this all works is are the P411 bluebird axles the same size/spline as other H165? That will mean that they are the same as H145 axles so we can use the original axles. If they are different, we will have to get axles made up to use Topgears LSD.

Check out http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... c_id=27186&forum=2#152737 and the post that dodgeman linked.

So can somebody please find out that H145 and late (not P411) H165 have the same axle spline/diamiter??? I only have H145 axles and nothing H165 to compare it with!

There are two more diff options that you can use without changing the rear end.
The last of the Sunny Sportswagons with the A15 used a 3.7 to 1 ratio. These diffs are H150's & share the same mounting gasket, but you should probably use a 2mm thick spacer plus a second gasket [one each side of the spacer] to position the center of the diff correctly. If this ratio is still too low, then you would need to talk to some of our US members about one of these in 3.54 to 1 ratio.

If you need something taller than that, then you need an overdrive five speed as well.
