in the west it's available in bulk, 20lt, 205lt,
you need a logbook to buy it,
it's 100 octane, and slower burning, so timing will need to be adjusted to accomodate..

Presumably you're asking since sometimes when auto petrol gets expensive av-gas stays cheaper...

hey there all,
just a question if yr going to buy avgas why not buy methanol you dont need a log book just buy it straight of the dealer its 99% pure alcohol and you can get the elf indy grade methanol for $260 a drum which is 205 litres maybe a avenue to look down but you have to be very precise with yr engine tunings or you will have yr pistons looking like a melted blob

High octane isn't quite that simple, yes it burns slower, and hotter i think, but if you're not detonating, it won't help any.

Propane is about 110 octane, i haven't melted pistons or valves. My EGT is peaking about 1150F when in it hard. Never heard even a ping, to make use of high octane, you need a static compression high enough to detonate when not being pushed hard.

like 12:1 C/R... then you get power gains.

Back in the mid 90's my old man raced a 1600 speedway car.. L18 with flat tops and a cam...nothin special. He ran it on leaded (super) back then But he picked up some sponsorship from Mobil ta use all the out of date Avgas from the local airport..

It only had 10:1 comp ratio and we picked up 15hp on the dyno.. just from the change in fuel.. And throttle response!!! Holy F##K...it was a totally diff car ta drive.
And the smell is great haha
