I will start with pointing you to the search function on the left hand side of the screen, and the tech section. Tons of datto owners have done or are doing brake up grades and there is a SH#T LOAD of info in previous posts. The simpelest up grade is 120y struts and discs for the front. They bolt straight in (sometimes). Are you meaning using the R31 rear stuff for the front or rear of your car. What is your car currently running. The more info you can jam in your posts the easier it is for the forum members to help you out.

Also let us know where you live, someone near by may be able to stop in and give you a hand or advice.

My brake upgrade for my 1200 ute is 120y front struts, custom adaptor plates and nissan silvia callipers and rotors on the front and rebuilt STD rear drum brakes, stops like an absolute WEAPON

You will be able to use plenty of bits off the R31 and will be able to sell off stuff as well

depends on how much you spend buying it and how much you will make seling un-needed parts

the front struts and brakes are good, and if you end up wanting even bigger front brakes than the r31 stuff there are kits that adapt r32/33 calipers to the r31 struts
however you will also neeb to buy stanza lower control arms ect to fit the struts

also can use the rear brakes on a h165 with very little modifications, if you dont have the money to have the r31 diff cut down

id say use 120y struts and fit ca18 brakes to them with a mounting bracket or sr20 brakes if you look in the right places you should be able to pick the parts up for less than a whole r31 i have fitted the ca brakes to one of my utes and am half way through doing the sr ones to my other ute you will need to swap struts from one side to the other and need to use a 15" rim
i think the r31 front brakes increases track to an illeegal size if the car is regoed but not to sure about it. cheers wayne

I wouldn't touch the back end. If you can get the skyline for next to nothing then go for it and bother the heck out of pigdog for advice. Or just go stanza all the way. Use the complete strut, discs, lca ,rods, etc.
The discs and calipers would be superior on skyline than the ones on a stanza (I'm guessing)
As pigdog says if you go r31 then you have the option to upgrade again to better brakes again !!

After the crap ive been through I wouldnt touch stanza struts with a ten foot pole, they are a fair bit taller than a 1200 strut.

I had to have my partners cut down with 300zx inserts because on a lowered car they bottom out all the time.

Go with the R31, but you have to remove the spring perch and use a smaller sunny or stanza one, also make up a locating ring for the bottom of the strut or phone datsport as they make this ring.

In my car Ive got 280zx which are very similar to R31 but have a heavier steel caliper.

14" will clear both 280zx and R31.

Mmmmmm anti-Stanza ehhhh
I'm currently working on a conversion for my B120 using 240Z rotors and either 240Z twin piston callipers, [read HEAVY] or 200B callipers [read NOT SO HEAVY].
All this will bolt up to a custom calliper mount which bolts to the factory B120 strut drum brake backing plate holes.
I did a lot of reading on this and other sites and I wasn't really impressed with the Stanza route either.
I agree, R31 stuff would be just great, but I'm trying to avoid all the track/castor/camber/travel issues that everything else seems to include as a "bonus"

yeah 200b struts or 240k struts are the go i think

the twin piston 240z calipers are great, heap better then the 200b calipers
and te weight differance really isnt that much
