I need help thinking of something to make for my school meatal work project. I can make anything I want. I want to make something to do with my 120Y but I cant think of anything.
I was thinking of like a rear sway bar of a strut bar, but im not sure. has anyone made either of these themselves? if you have if you want to share your idea can you post up some pics?

Any other ideas anyone????

How about a nice set of extractors?

The strut brace would be a decent project.

you could also make some adjustable lower control arm, or caster rods.

Maybe some tramp bars for the rear end or maybe some camber tops.

I have had students made oil catch cans in the past.

Can be made from steel or aluminium if your school has a tig welder.

Plenty examples on the net

I think the extractors is one of the best ideas. Its something you are well able to do and even if the quality isnt the best, its not somthing dangerous to fit to your car.
If you dont have a bender big enough, dont let it stop you. Tell your teacher and see what ideas they have. You can make your own bends even without a bender. Get your pipe, weld a cap on the end, fill the pipe with sand, jump on the lathe and turn up a plug for the other end, Press the plug into the pipe so the sand is compacted, Tack weld the plug so it stays in position. Then heat the pipe up with the oxy so you can bend it over some larger diameter pipe.

Make sure the sand is DRY. When I made the triple carb manifold for our speedway racer many years ago we heated the sand on a flat tray over a BBQ burner, then transfered it with a metal scooper into a funnel to place it in the pipe.
NEVER use a plastic scoop in hot sand. [the kids will never forgive you. LOL]

Wet sand, even damp or moist sand can be a rupture hazard from the steam pressure inside when the pipe is heated red to allow easy bending.

Any full welded pipe is dangerous of exploding. Thats why you just tack the plug in position. Heating a pipe red hot - will steam suprise you? or do you think the red pipe might make you think danger already?
