The 1200 (L20b turbo setup) is booked in for a tune on friday the 8th of July at RPM. Over the phone it was suggested that my current ignition system wont be up to the task of a substantial boost/power increase. Im running a haltech E6X ecu which is configured to still run the electronic dizzy (locked, run from ecu) and only a single newer style coil which is bosch from memory. The spark is ok but could be a lot stronger. I have power to the coil through a relay and is getting 12V straight from battery.
It was suggested i upgrade to a cdi ignition system, even a jaycar kit at $100, but since i have never been really good at fiddly little electronics is there a cheapish alternative brands avaliable somewere. Also i have no idea how they work really but was told they increase from 50 000v to 110 000v? What is the difference between cdi and high energy ignition systems or are they the same? Any tips or explanations apreciated, Cheers Will

The 4 channel Autronic CDI is over $1000. So $100 sound alright to me. Might be the chance to enhance your 'fiddly bit skills'.

You might be able to get a single output mallory unit (or a motorbike or outboard marine motor CDI) for considerably less.

accel 300 digital CDI works pretty well, around $300 usd with coil. I've been using one for a few years, has some add on options, there's a tuning module and even EFI.

This is the $100 kit, it dosnt have very much info but im guesing its a single output system.

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView. ... eMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=

Also it quotes: This kit can be connected to conventional points or relecutor ignition systems

Is the relecutor refering to electronic ignition, will it work with my L20b series 2 electric ign dissy, im a bit lost
