Hey guys, i was just wondering what everyone suggests would be the easiest and cheapest way to get a polished chrome finish on a set of TRX rims? I want them to look like this.........

http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=13075

I love trx rims and i want to put them on my ute but don't like the dull finish, especially when all the rest of the chrome on my ute will be sparkling.

What do you think?

Cheers
Trav

Hay Trav. I polished my TRX rims myself. They where pretty rough when Bought em and I spent about 3 to 4 hours per mag cleaning, grinding, painting, sanding, buffing and polishing. Its still not a perfect finish, I just cracked the S@#TS and just got em shiney. IT SUCKED and my finger tips where worn down a little. If you can afford to get a pro to do it (dont know how much they charge though) What I did was paint inside the spokes mat black then sanded the outer face and rim lip smooth with 200 then 400 then 600 grit wet and dry. Then polished them with a proper buff wheel and roushe (wax compound) on my die grinder. Once I buffed out most of the sanding scratches I polished them by hand with autosol and a rag. They looked good but there are some minor imperfections but I dont care cause its deffinatly NOT a show car. I will post some pics if you want to see em

Yeah i'd like to see some pics mate if that's ok. If it's easier just email them to halltr@stgeorge.com.au.

Sounds like a bit of work and very time consuming. The only issue i have is that in about 4-6 weeks i'm going for a full on strut and brake upgrade. I don't actually have the wheels yet as i probabaly won't be able to afford them till just before i fit the struts and will need to fit the wheels straight away as my current 13" rims have no chance of fitting over r31 discs and calipers. Once they are on they are staying on. I don't want to be buggering around with them cause i will need all the time i have prepping the body for a much needed spray job.

Might search around locally for someone who will polish them for me. If they charge too much then i will bite the bullet and do it myself.

Has anyone had any experience with paying to get them done? And if so where and how much did you pay?

Thanks for the help
Trav
