Hi all on the weekend i asked dad about shaving the lip on my ute and he sed it wud probly take strength out of the body is this true??? THANX Appsy1

check out MY UTE and then decide.

i dont think it takes strength out of the body BUT f you want one of those hard covers with the DATSUN emblem embossed on it DON'T shave it as you need the lip...i just have to work out how to modify a few things to get that hard since mine is shaved

another question i forgot to ask was do u have to weld the hole way around the ut where the lip was?? THANX Appsy1

Certainly do, unless you plan on a few spot welds and bogging the rest. That would affect the structural integrity, the quarters would be as flimsy as cardboard.

It's probably best to cut the lip in sections as well, as opposed to cutting the whole thing off and trying to weld it in one go. That should help keep the body straight.
