As the title states.
Yes or NO?

Here is the deal... I bought a waterpump on ebay $9.00 ...months ago. Turns out, it has the wrong bolt spacing for the stock fan, but for some reason I had a pulley that fit it. I picked up a used clutch fan. 8 bladed and fits inside the factory shroud.

If the clutch fan fits, and works. Use it! They are a slighty better design then a fixed fan. They will 'slip' when cool, but lock up when warm. Providing cooling when its needed, not all the time!

if it works, they are mostly dead now days.
And make sure the fan blades are the right way!

Also the fan blade will sit closer to the radiator, a bit of a pain if ou are looking at radiator mods later on and may have to modify it to work properly later too

As far as I can tell, the viscous coupling to the fan can be one of two types.

The first type simply limits RPM of the fan to about 3,000. The original aircon fan in most cars seems to have 7 or 8 blades & this really sucks the bugs through the radiator, but it's noisy, & if you are driving along, by the time you hit 3,000 rpm, you don't need the fan anyway.

The second type is also thermo controlled. It's still speed limited, but when the engine is cold, then the air passing through the radiator is also cold, so the thermo coupling gizmo disconnects the drive to the fan & it freewheels. When the engine is heating up, the air passing through the core is also heated. After a set point, the fan cuts in & starts sucking bugs again.

If you live in an area where the outside temperature gets pretty high, then this could be a good idea. If you spend most of your driving in Alaska, then don't bother.

As for Yakima, it's your call.
[I have a friend in Yakima, nice bloke too]

Well it fits great, no closer to the radiator than stock. Acts like it works well.

I am getting ready to start the New engine today. (Keith Dots) 0 mile engine, cam'ed up a bit, A15 intake and header/extractor. If I can get DD's SU intake to replace my broken one I want to go that route.

Oh and its supposed to hit 100* Fht this week. too hot for me

Now you surely know by now that the payment for all this great advice is that you have to post a picture or two of this setup.
I would like to run an aircon water pump & fan in my car & a couple of pics would be great.

Paid in full! LOL

the clutch itself was in the trunk/boot of a 240SX. I got the fan off of a Datsun pickup 80's era.

OH BTW this is in my B210

I would also say fit the clutch fan.
It's there when you need it and not there when you don't need it.If you know what I mean.
