I was looking in a box of bits n pieces for some new fuel line yesterday and found a MSD 5 system I used about 15 years ago on V8's. I was wondering if anyone would know if
this was suitable for my A12. The unit is marked for 6cyl & V8 use, but I was wondering what difference there would be ?
Hope someone might know.

Craig

I used a MSD 6(?) on my A12 up until last year. We modified the MSD's circuit to run with optical points and I was really happy with the performance. Cold starting (<10.C) with twin
40's and no choke required a bit of a technique though. I figured out it would fire just as you released the key as the box was sucking bulk power and there was a spike as you
disengaged the starter - this normally would kick her into life. I used the MSD because it was free but wouldn't suggest that as the way to go. I am using the optical points on my A12
race motor but in conjunction with a Toyota igniter and I would recommend you investigate that as a low-cost and effective electronic set up.
