hey ive been doin a bit of lookin around, and im not sure what a decent price is for a CA18det with box and all the sensors and ####. i got quoted today 3000$$ for a 180sx front cut. and i get to hear the motor running. is one worth the three grand, how hard is it to find a ca plus box wiring loom, ecu and all the piping, sensors etc etc? ive decided to go towards a CA now. L20b is to old of a motor.
cheers.

How long's the warranty? Seems pricey but you do get to here it running.

Most places in Sydney sell front cuts for under $2grand with like a months warranty. You'd probably want to give the motor and 'box a freshen up when they're out of the car anyway, so warranty is overrated.

Sure can, I've got a list of the major importers in Australia, one of the handiest things ever.

I'll pm you some links later (probably tomorrow). What state are you in?

Try SSS Automotive on (02)98966111. They had the cheapest prices when I was chassing up an engine package and I think they give a 3 month warrenty.

They are cheap, but the dude can be a bit of a 'you know what'.

Also, I know a bloke that bought one off them. He started up the motor before he did any work on it and it died. When he took it back for his warranty they wouldn't pay up 'coz they said he'd stripped it down. He copped it on the chin, but I'd have torn 'em a new one.

zoom, HPI and some other magazines usually have ads with half cut prices in them

cheers for the feed back fella's. yeah its interesting, this place in beresfield ( newcastle) is sayin 3000. but if there say 2500 is it worth the drive to sydney u know? or should i just lookin for a CA and 5 speed box? i dunno. im leanin towards half cut coz of radiator intercooler, etc etc. which i can utilise.

you wont need the stocko side mount intercooler its rubbish. the stock radiator is fine im runnin one but the outlet ends up being very close to the plenum, i.e. cold side of your intercooler piping, not a big deal, but im thinkin changin radiators while mines off the road.

at least if u get a half cut you know everything is there and you can check that it runs, dont pay more than 2500 is my recomendation for a stock half cut
