i have a excedy soild centre 5 puck brass button in mine.

it loves the drags, never slips.

make sure you get your fly wheel machined.

taken from the x-treme website.

" Has a rigid centre with cushioning segments between multiple ceramic buttons bonded to steel backing. Ceramic linings offer greater torque capacity, much higher coefficient of friction as well as higher heat stability and dissipation.

Offers a great driveability with the advantages of using a sintered lining, relatively smooth and positive engagement, suited for street and sprint use. "

Because the friction plate is cushioned it makes them much more gentle to engage than a solid brass button plate as there is some give in the thickness of the plate. Once all the pressure is down they still grab and hold very well though.

you'll find that most (nearly all) standard clutches are "cushioned" in between the two facing of the friction material they pretty much have "kinked pieces of steel which as the clutch engages helps to smooth out the engagement.

yeah exactly, the cushioned button clutches take advantage of the cushioning of a standard clutch but with the increased friction coefficient of the ceramic inserts.

I've heard that button clutches also chew out standard flywheels... I have a exedy 'sports tuff' 4 puck button clutch, it slips real bad... might not be the clutch's fault, but I read of one instance where one was tested and it had less clamping pressure than the standard clutch.

OS Giken twinplate is the way to go
