Use both a positive and a negative cable all the way up to the engine block and starter. Don't rely on a ground/earth through the body...

Yep, you need the -ve cable to earth on the engine... Not the chassis.

I ran mine under the drivers seat which allowed me to install a cut-out switch for security puposes.

what motor are you running and type of curent draw do have from your starter. i run a 4 gauge wire from my battery for my a-series. but if you are running abig stereo system i would run 1 or 0 gauge wire

Don't know gauge sorry but I just earthed the battery in the boot to the chassis and put an extra earth strap on the block.

I ran the cable tacked against the floor under the car and bought the cable inside by cutting a hole at the rear of the back seat and grommeted the hole.

Had it like that for 4+ years with a 351 on the other end and never had a problem.

I had my earth to the chassis and an earth strap to the engine. nothing wrong with that. no need to run the negative all the way back to the engine. If you do it that way, it still needs to earth on the chassis somewhere too.

The positive cable should be sheilded in conduit and clamped to the body to prevent it moving and wearing through.

or

and for all the rest of original 1200 loom should i power up where old possitive terminal was and earth old negative terminal to chassis aswell

there aint to many wires
