heya's,

My datto will be on the road tomorrow finally, yay!

but anyway, i was wondering what the best size exhaust is for a stock A12? i just want good overall performance. I've heard that a 2" is good, but will it be too big for my
tiny stock A12? also, what sort of muffler? hotdog?

any help appreciated, thanks

-Jesse

Hi Jesse,
For your stock 1200, use 2" exhaust and a sort of quiet muffler around the size of the stock one. It will give you 3 to 6 more HP, not a lot but it all helps. Better
gas milage also.

Yeah 2" is spot on the money for a stock A12 i rekon. Standard is 1.75" and is very small indeed. As Mareo said, theres a few hp increase but not alot. I actually fitted a 2.25" system to
a stock A12 once before, sounded ok but i would say it lacked a bit back pressure. A14/15 would be more suited to a 2.25" system but 2" is fine on the A12. And dont bother with a
resonator, im sure u want some noise out the back! Just use a short oval type straight thru muffler. About 12-14" long should be long enough. That should give u a good note and better
economy. Hope this helps.

heaps good, thanks alot guys

get this, i registered the datto today right? So i was cruising around the city for a while, and i get pulled over by the bloody cops!

I knew they couldnt pick on me for anything, coz my car is spotless, and i had just washed, vaccumed, and all the things to make it look nice. But they pulled me over coz i was puffing
some smoke. What i tried to explain to them was that i hadnt driven the fucken car in 2 years, and i had to blow all the cobwebs out of it....

hmmmf! cops these days.....

why couldnt they pull over the gemini behind me? the one with a 1 metre wide exhaust, wheels the size of tractor wheels, and two homies sitting in it with their music blasting from
their 30 inch sub woofers...

damnit.....

dont take it personally... but i reckon the more cops pull over smokie-cars the better, that stuff stinks! if u have a good reason like u did, then its cool, but have u ever been
lost in a cloud behind some shitty laser or something? u cant breathe!

oh yeah, my car smokes on startup a bit after sitting all night- this means worn valve guides doesnt it? it is the original motor, so its to be expected i spose...

cheers, Linc.

hehe, the damned cop-lady kept checking the tread on my tires for some reason? =)

Linc, yeh it is the original motor. Hasnt been touched since it came out the factory (except me putting an aftermarket air filter on).

I had the car nicely polished, with the paint shiny, and all the chrome really really nice looking....they other cops couldnt believe it was a datsun, coz it was in too
good a condition. They thought i was a rebadged laser or something!

Check my new post, coz i have a question.
