I just installed my 4 into 1 "race headers"
in my 1977 B210/120y 3door coupe 5 Speed

They were bought off of ebay a while ago.
I took off the stock headers and all the EGR emmissions bullcrap with it. They fit up pretty well(nothing a hammer couldnt solve)

Now the engine dosent want to idle at all.
Ive plugged all that i can see that needs to be plugged. Fiddled withthe mixture and i still get eht same results:

1.Wont idle or even run without pumping the pedal

2. Gets to about 3000 rpm then shoots off to redline after a little while.

3. Backfires out the carb pretty regularly

Im running the headers into the bit of stock exhaust that leads to the cat.Ii had to take the cat off to fit the headers.

Any suggestions. Im at a loss here.
Maybe its a matter of not enought backpressure
Or vacume leak or maybe some magic buttion that reads "FIX" under the engine block haha.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Be sure to check all the openings in the intake. Did you plug the egr opening.

Some of the bolt holes go directly into the intake also.

I have welded up several intakes to fit the headers too.

Did you use new gaskets?

Thanks for te reply.
I was really flustered at the time.
I ended up just having to eplace the stock headers.

We did seal up the holes in the side of the intake
also i noticed later that the fuse to the electronic choke was blown. that might have been the problem all along.
