I have a CA18DET in my 1200 coupe and want to use the original temp gauge.

I spoke to the instrumentation guru and he confirmed my thoughts, that the 1200 temp gauge does not match the sensor in the CA. He supplied a VDO sensor P/No: 320.003 Stamped on the sensor is the following info: 120 degrees 003 6/05 6-24v

However this sensor does not fit into the CA manifold as the thread is different and there is not alot of meat there to drill it out and tap it bigger.

Has anyone else got the 1200 temp gauge to work with the CA and what did you do??? What sensor did you use???

Any help appreciated.

You might actually want to try the original a-series sensor. I used one on my Toy 4AGZE's water outlet, the thread was the same, I only had to enlarge the hole right inside by 0.5mm, as the a-series sensor's probe was slightly bigger. Otherwise the threads were the same. I also looked for another sensor at first, but the a-series sensor's resistance range was totally different to anything else, it had much lower ohm readings at any temperature according to the book I looked in. There was only one Opel sensor that came close, but it's threads were totally different.

Other than that, you could make a housing that goes in the middle of the top radiator hose, into which an original sensor screws.

Hmm I don't understand all this stress..

I use the CA18 one, and see nothing wrong. My gauge sits on 1/2 on the freeway. Maybe I need some mods?

I used the A12 oil pressure sender into the CA18 block..

O, ok I thought that because he was looking for a different one, that the ratings might be different.

For oil, I had a 4 way block made up, one end takes feed, the opposite end takes the feed to the turbo, and the other two are occupied by the after market oil pressure sensor and the A14 pressure sensor.
