Oh, boy! Anyone have a stock A12 I can borrow?
For those that don't know, here in CA, a car is exempt from the biennial smog check if it's built pre1976. Now, you don't have to get it checked BUT you're not allowed to remove the smog equipment either. Ya right

Jamiecidpedro... sit down before you read on.

AB 616
Would require DCA to incorporate annual inspection of motor vehicles 15 model-years old and older into the Smog Check Program by July 1, 2008. Would require funds generated through additional inspection fees to be deposited into the HPRRA. Would exempt from annual inspection all motor vehicles that are exempt from biennial inspection. Would require DCA to develop a methodology to exempt motor vehicles or classes of vehicles likely to pass annual inspection. Would make the repair assistance option of CAP only available to low-income individuals. Would change the maximum income level from 200% FPG to 300% FPG. Would require DCA to offer eligible individuals full repair cost assistance, including the full costs of all needed repairs to remedy a failed Smog Check inspection.

That bill does not effect pre-1975 vehicles. Of course that can change, but its unlikely because they are having trouble just passing it in its current form.

Do a google news search for AB 616 to get the full story.
