Hey guys,

I'll be down in Morwell this saturday to tackle the old Morewell hillclimb track. Apparently they are re-doing the track in the near future so may be the last chance to drive it. It's with the wrx club which gives me a few old farts in $$$ wrx's to chase!

Has anybody driven it before? I'm a little daunted because apparently it's all walls and hills and I'm a little worried about wrecking my car! Obviously I'll ease myself into it but just thought there might be a few tips or tricks to share?

So we all had a fun day yesterday. My car wasn't as competitive as I had hoped. I had trouble all day with locking up brakes due to all the braking areas being uneven coming up or down hills. Don't really know what I could do about that. All us 2wd guys had a massive disadvantage to begin with because the uphill start was so slippery that you really needed AWD to get away quickly. At times I thought my clutch was slipping because of how easily it was spinning through second gear but it was just slippery.

Anyway, here's a couple of vids. The video of me was compiled by a mate over 5 or 6 passes videoing from different points to give the impression of a full pass. It looks great I reckon.

My complete pass

That looked ok. Love the sideways at the end. I was there about 12 months ago watching Allan Kerr i his 1200 sedan Sports sedan that was RWD & very fast. Maybe some handling mods & a lower diff ratio might help get some better times. but it all comes down to $$$$$. As long as your having fun who cares if you a bit slow.
And look on the bright side you can drive like a madman legaly

Coops

Great video...looks like fun.

The Gemini stalling was pretty funny too.

The embarrassing this about that gemini was that it was almost stock power wise with some suspension mods and I was only 1.7 seconds faster than it over a 40 second pass!

Couple of pics

Daveman good work, I was there a couple of weeks ago and did a 35.3 with my A15. I takes some learning that track and there are particular line to make it work.

35.3? My best was a 40.04

Was that in a 1200 or as your name suggests in a clubman?

I won't feel so bad if it was a clubman.

I don't reckon I drove one pass out of about 8 with correct lines on all corners so I definitely could have gone faster but I found it quite technical compared to something like a longer race track.

Daveman yes it ia a clubman 150HP 480Kgs. Hey you did great for your first time. A lot of people look at the track and think it's easy, but that's not so. It is very technical and can bite you bad, the track surface has gone off an it's slippery as you have found. My best is a 34.5 but I was beaten that day by a 32.8, dame thats quick. Hope to see you there again.
