Hi and welcome.
My one friend here at work had such a electronic thingy fitted to his car when he was still living at the coast to try and prevent rust. I don't think it worked and he also said it because it had rust in the engine bay and along the rubber of the windscreen.
Maybe it slowed down the rust process?

Sorry, I think those things are in the same category as energy polarizers.

Check out the last letter on this page

Don't know exactly how it works. But it (small box the size of a car radio)uses the battery for power and then I think it puts some kind of charge on the body panels that prevents rusting.Although I have seen that it does'nt seem to work.

things like that seem to work on some things, boats, but the mechanism of corrosion is different.

Is this one of those negative ion generators?

I'm not sure exactly how such a gadget could prevent iron from oxidizing from the air and moisture.

Most industrial equipment is either plated, painted or made of something durable.

I hear the datsun sheetmetal isn't as corrosion resistant as we'd like. Maybe strip the shell and get it zinc dipped and something crazy like that.

Can't really elaborate on how it works as I don't know.Just know in his case it did'nt work very well.
Maybe slowed down the rusting process but did'nt prevent it.

Yeah they are a little box with a few wires coming out that attach to the car and give it a charge of some sort.

Am in the market for a new 1200ute and its going to be a sunday driver so rust is is a concern as I live near the coast.

'perthute', I fishoiled my old 1200 and it was ####, stains all over, drips and a smell for weeks

Was going to go on about the fact that there is no electrical connection between this device and all the panels of the vehicle....but looks like that Dan's letter says it all.

Wont work is the short answer.
