Hey guys,

Now that i have sold the ute and the missus has put the kibosh on my plans for a new project till after i get married i was thinking of maybe selling my plates.

The thing is i have no idea how to go about this and what price to ask.

I guess i will have to just put them on hold with the rta and then if someone wants to buy them from me we change them over to that persons name.

Has anyone done this before and can let me know if that's the way it works?

Also is there anyone out there interested?

They are the black and white "premium plates" and they read;

DTS51N

They looked great on the ute and set it off nicely.

If needed check my profile for pics but i think people in nsw will now what they look like.

So yeah anyone interested in making me an offer just pm me.

Thanks
Trav

You can only transfer plates between family members, you will need to put the plates on an old banger then sell that to the person who wants them and they can put them on their car.

Really sidedraught???

How come you see all these plates for sale in mags and trading post and stuff then?

Perthute, can you clear this up as the site that you said to check out has heaps of nsw plates for sale on it.

Yeah really, unless they have changed the rules since I last checked.

Here is what they say,

"you cannot sell or otherwise transfer the right to display Standard Content and Personalised Content Special Number Plates .

(b) You may apply to exchange the right to display Standard Content or Personalised Content Special Number Plates with another vehicle registered in your name or a member of your immediate family. If the Special Number Plates are registered to a company, the company may exchange the right to display with its employee or its related body corporate. To exchange the right to display Standard Content and Personalised Content Special Number Plates, you and the person or company you intend to exchange plates with must complete and submit to the RTA the applicable form and pay the applicable exchange fee."

Hey Trav, just tell the RTA the buyer is your cousin or step brother, im sure if they want the plates they will play along.

As you said there are so many plates for sale that there must be a way around all that crap.
